Position Summary

The Department of Biological & Ecological Engineering invites applications for a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, fixed term Research Associate (Post Doc) position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Department Head.

The position is to conduct and support the research activities under a DOE’s Biohydrogen Production project with Dr. Hong Liu as the PI, who is an Associate Professor in the department. The position will be for one year.

The College of Agricultural Sciences faculty are committed to enhancing student success by engaging students in quality academic, research, internships, global studies, and other experiential learning opportunities. Positions with primary responsibility for extension and outreach are likewise committed to learner success through programming appropriate for diverse audience.

Position Duties

40% Design and operate biohydrogen production reactors in lab.

30% Conduct biohydrogen production experiments on an industrial site.

5% Mentor and provide lead work for graduate and undergraduate students. This includes planning, assigning and approving work.

10% Initiate and write manuscripts for submission to peer reviewed publications and respond to the reviewers comments.

15% Develop proposals.

Minimum/Required Qualifications

PhD in Environmental Science or Engineering or any other closely allied science or engineering disciplines.

Demonstrated experience with fermentative hydrogen production and microbial electrochemical processes.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 24 months.

Preferred (Special) Qualifications

Experience with bioreactor scaling up and on-site wastewater treatment.

A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule

Work schedule is 8 am – 5 pm, M – F. Desk and lab work.

This position requires a clear and unambiguous commitment to compliance of all National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) regulations for Division I (FBS) universities. No
